Terms

These Terms are the agreement between you and the operator of alif.social. Please read them: by creating an account you agree to them, and by continuing to use alif.social after the Effective Date shown above you agree to the version in force on that date.

Who runs alif.social

alif.social is operated by Junaid Bhura, a sole trader registered in Australia, ABN 66 289 467 186 (referred to below as "we", "us", and "the operator").

Who may use it

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By creating one you confirm that you are. We may close any account we reasonably believe belongs to someone under 18.

You sign in through our identity provider, WorkOS. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in method secure and for everything done through your account.

What alif.social is

alif.social is a community platform where people follow mosques, listings, groups, and one another, and post to those who follow them. It is beta software: it may change, break, lose data, or be unavailable, without notice, while we build it. We may add, alter, or remove features at any time.

What you may post

You are responsible for what you post: text, images, events, listings, and replies. You keep ownership of it, and you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, display, and distribute it on alif.social as needed to run the service, for as long as it remains on the platform.

You must not post anything that:

• is unlawful under Australian law, or that you have no right to post;
• is defamatory, threatening, harassing, or incites violence or hatred against any person or group;
• infringes another person's copyright, trade mark, or privacy;
• is spam, unsolicited advertising, or deceptive;
• contains malicious code or attempts to interfere with the service or other Members' accounts.

You must not impersonate any person, mosque, business, or organisation, or claim to run a listing you have no right to run.

We may remove any content and suspend or close any account that we reasonably believe breaches these Terms, without notice.

Mosques, listings, and groups

Mosques on alif.social are created by the operator. A listing is added by a Member and verified only through the listing's own contact details; we do not verify who owns or runs a business, and nothing on alif.social is a statement about a business's ownership or quality. Groups are created and run by Members. We are not a party to anything arranged between Members through the platform.

Your privacy

What we hold about you, and what we never hold, is set out in the Privacy Policy. It forms part of these Terms.

Leaving

You may delete your account at any time. Deleting it removes what we hold about you, as the Privacy Policy describes.

Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms. A change takes effect on the Effective Date shown at the top of this page. When the Effective Date changes, you will be shown what changed and asked to accept the new Terms the next time you visit, before using anything else. If you do not agree, you may leave by deleting your account, free of charge and at any time. A change that does not affect your rights or obligations, such as a correction of wording, may be made without moving the Effective Date.

No warranty and limited liability

alif.social is provided as is and as available. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that anything posted on it will be preserved, and we exclude all liability for loss of data, downtime, and any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of it. Keep your own copies of anything you would not want to lose.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded. Where our liability cannot be excluded but may be limited, it is limited, at our option, to resupplying the service or paying the cost of having it resupplied.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria. Australian law alone applies to these Terms and to your use of alif.social, wherever you are.
